Faith beyond the Fire

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a deep desire to connect with the firefighter community—not only because of their courage in the face of danger, but because of the hope that can be found beyond the flames. That calling weighs even heavier on my heart now, as Pennsylvania has just endured the devastating loss of seven souls in house fires in a single week. Each life matters, and each tragedy reminds me why this mission is so important.
As a burn survivor, fire has been both my greatest trial and my greatest teacher. Growing up, I often felt overlooked—passed by for opportunities, unseen, and rejected. Year after year, I wrestled with the belief that I wasn’t good enough or that my story didn’t matter. But I’ve learned that scars don’t erase worth. They carry stories of survival, resilience, and a chance to begin again. We are all responsible to use our story, whether it will be for good or bad it our choice.
That belief is what fuels my desire to give back. I want to connect with the fire service not only to honor the bravery of those who respond, but also to remind survivors, families, and communities that hope still rises from the ashes.
Recently, I began collecting fire department patches and challenge coins (it could be non fire departments as all). They may seem like simple cloth or metal—but to me, each one represents a connection, a story, and a bond between those who fight the flames and those who live through them. Every patch sewn into this collection is a reminder that we’re stronger together.
My dream is to collect one from **every state**—to build a collection that represents unity across the fire service, and a living symbol of the hope that continues long after the flames are out.
Here’s where you come in:
If you are part of the fire service, I would love to connect with you. I’ve created packets that explain my story and this mission, and I would be honored to send one your way. In return, if your department would be willing to share a patch or a challenge coin, it would become part of this growing collection—a testament to the bond between firefighters and survivors.
If you’d like to take part, please reach out. Together, we can build a bridge of hope beyond the fire—one patch, one coin, one connection at a time.
